About Me

My name is Debora Taye, and I hold an MSc in Computer Engineering from Addis Ababa University, where I graduated in June 2025. I completed my undergraduate degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering at Jimma University, Ethiopia. During my master’s studies, I was co-advised by Dr. Bisrat.A and Hellina.H.

My research interests broadly lie in Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML), and Natural Language Processing (NLP), with a particular focus on developing machine translation (MT) systems for Ethiopian local languages. I am especially interested in creating NLP tools that are usable and accessible for low-resourced languages.

In my free time, I cultivate a deep appreciation for literature📖 and the arts🎨. Engaging with books allows meto expand my horizons and gain new perspectives on the world. I find great fulfillment in losing myself in the written word, as it enables me to explore diverse ideas and narratives.
